Camila Vicens, Houston, TX wins 12 years old girls 1500 meter racewalk for the second year.  She won in record time (7:08.99).  She won the same event last year in 2013 with a record time of 7:17.80.

15-16 Years Old Girls High Jump – 6-1, Vashti Cunningham, Las Vegas, NV, 7/28/2014 breaks a 32 year old High Jump Record set by Sherri Bruant, Indianapolis, IN (6-0.25,) in 1982. Vasthi Cunningham, Las Vegas, NV, daughter of NFL Quarterback Randall Cunningham broke the Girls 15-16 years old high jump with a mark of 5-11 in 2013 that she attempted but missed the 1982 record of 6-0.25 held by Sherri Bruant of Indianapolis, IN. 

Randall Cunningham II, Las Vegas, NV wins the 17-18 Boys High Jump with a height of 7-0.  Randall and his sister Vashti are this year’s first brother sister combo to win the same event.  

In the 12 years old Boys 1500 meters, Brandon Miller of O Fallon, MO breaks record with a time of 4:22.84.  It is his third record in three years.  He broke the 10 years old 1500 meter record in Houston with a time of 4:49.53, he broke the 11 years old 1500 meter record in Detroit with a time of 4:37.24, and now has the 12 years old record of 4:22.84.  Also, he was a triple winner in 2013, with wins in 11 years old Boys 800 meters (2:11.98), 1500 meters (4:37.24), and 3000 meters (10:14.11). Brandon Miller now owns the 12 years old 800 meters record (2:03.09). It is his second record for the 2014 JO Games.  He runs 2:02.00 for his anchor split on the 4x800 meter relay which placed second.

Jaellene Burgess, Homestead, FL wins 9 years old Girls 1500 meters (5:30.80) and 400 meters (1:05.04). She was also a double winner in 2013 with wins in the 8 & under Girls 1500 meters (5:41.67) and 800 meters (2:38.13).

Tyler Mapson Jr. of College Park, GA wins the 11 years old boys 400 meters for the 4th straight year with a time of 57.28. His time was just .06 of a second of the record. He holds the record in the 400 meters for the 8 & under (1:03.44), 9 years old (1:00.4) and 10 years old (58.91).

Makayla Clark, Raytown, MO wins the 10 years old 800 meters in a close race with a time of 2:22.70.  She was a double winner last year in the 9 years old Girls 400 meters (1:05.44) and 800 meters (2:30.22).

Willie Washington, Hampton, VA holds records in 8 and Under 100 meters (13.46), 8 and Under 200 meters (27.98),  10 Years Old Boys 100 meters (12.45) , 10 Years Old Boys 200 meters (25.48),  and now 11 Years Old Boys 200 Meters(24.69).

Rachel Lau defends 15-16 years old girls 3000 meters win a time of 10:13.10.  She won the event in 2013 in Detroit, MI with a time of 10:20.84.

Kevin Adams I I won the 8 and under in Shot Put in Houston in 2012, in Detroit last year in 2013 and again here in Iowa. He is a three times National champion.  He also placed 8th in the Multi-Event last Saturday to kick the Olympic off.

Briana Williams of Miramar Optimist track has been running AAU for 4 years and has been a Junior Olympic Champion 3 straight years in both 100 and 200m. She won the 100 and 200 in the 10, 11 years old  age groups and is the 2014 Champion in the 12 Years old 100 meters in a time of 12.31 and 200 meters (25.29).  She is listed in as a triple winner this year with a Gold as a member of  the 4x100 meter relay.

Brandon Miller, O Fallon, MO wins 12 years old Boys 800 meters (2:03.09), 1500 meters (4:22.34). Both 2014 meet records.  

Sanaiya Watts, Collegeville, PA wins 13 years old Girls 1500 meters (4:59.24) and 800 meters (2:20.27).

 

Keiran McKeag, Lakeville, MN wins 15-16 years old Boys Shot Put (53-3.75) and Discus (154-9).

 

Terrell Jackson, Memphis, TN wins 15-16 years old 800 meters (1:51.53) and 1500 meters (4:03.05).  The 800 meters is a 2014 meet record.

 

Jahnelle Saunders, Hampton, VA wins 11 years old Long Jump (15-6.5) and Pentathlon (2661).  

 

Caleb Roberson, Jurupa Valley, CA wins 13 years old Long Jump (20-2.75) and 200 m Hurdles (24.62). The 200 meters hurdles is a 2014 meet record.

Seven of the JO Games officials including meet Director Coach O were all pretty good 400 meter athletes.

 

Security Liason Lamont Smith (44.30) - 1996 4x400 Meter Relay Olympic Gold Medalist.  His time in 1996 Olympic Trials is 11th fastest ever run at the Trials.

 

Security Liason Darnell Hall (44.34) – 1992 4x400 Meter Relay Olympic Gold Medalist. In 1995, he won the 400 meter World Indoor title.

 

Starter Raymond Pierre (44.59) – 1987 Pan American Games 400 meter Champion (44.60).  He also was a member of the 1987 Pan American 4x400 meter relay Championship Team (2:59.54).

 

Meet Director Charles Oliver (45.74) – 1976 NAIA National Champion 400 meters and still holds Troy University school record. He was a 1976 and 1980 Olympic Trails finalist in 400 meters.

 

Starter John Patterson (45.95) – 4 time NCAA All-American for the University of Texas and still ranks 6th on 400 meter all-time list at Texas. 

 

Hy-Tek Marchan Atkins (46.08) – He coached at Illinois Wesleyan University.  His women's team won three NCAA Division III Championships during his tenure and he coached 137 NCAA All-American performances.

He was recognized by US Track Coaches Association as 2008 Midwest Regional and National Assistant Coach of the Year.

 

Grunt Krewe Matt Shelton (47.08) – NCAA and Olympic Trials Decathlon 400 meter Record holder. He was 1992 NCAA Runner-up in Decathlon.
